At Ridge on the Chimney, we know that trust is the foundation of an exceptional vacation. While we meticulously plan for your perfect escape, we also know that unexpected moments can arise. Our commitment is to always be there for you, navigating any curveballs with grace and a dedication to making the best of every situation.

 

We take your feedback to heart. It's not just about addressing concerns—it's about continuously enhancing our property to ensure every guest feels valued and cared for. Based on feedback, we've made significant upgrades, including:

 * Motorized Blinds: We've installed motorized blinds in the main living areas to provide an extra layer of privacy for those who want it.

 

 * Hot Tub Upgrades: To ensure your hot tub is always ready, we've enhanced our systems with new filters, heaters, UV treatment, and insulated covers. We also use a portable propane heater to ensure our staff can heat the tubs even with fire bans, harsh winds, or heavy rains. While extreme weather like lightning or temperatures below -20°C can make it unsafe for our staff to prepare the hot tubs for your arrival, we will be back the next day once it's safe. This has only happened twice in the hundreds of stays thus far.

 

We also understand that not every detail will be perfect for everyone. The majority of our guests love our Obasan mattresses—many have even purchased their own after a stay. However, two guests have found them not to their liking, and that's okay. Similarly, while most guests enjoy the community feel of our property, we know a few have wished for more seclusion. We embrace all feedback as part of our journey to create the ideal experience.

As of September 6, 2025, our guests have shared their experiences in 145 reviews across platforms like Google, TripAdvisor, Airbnb, and VRBO. We're proud to share that 140 of these reviews (96.5%) are 5-star ratings. We believe this overwhelmingly positive feedback speaks to our dedication to providing a truly exceptional stay.

 

Our most common praise highlights:

 * Spectacular views and sunsets

 * The incredible beach access

 * Our rigorous attention to detail and a cleaning process so thorough that we log over 150 photos for each clean

 * The quality of our communication and service from our team

 

While we strive for perfection, we understand that sometimes things don't go as planned. We've received a handful of lower ratings that have given us valuable insight:

 

 * Four-star reviews noted a faulty smoke alarm during an early stay, a guest’s comfort challenges with a longer stay in a one-bedroom unit without a washer/dryer or oven, and a single instance of a guest who gave a 4-star rating with otherwise positive feedback.

 

 * A single 3-star review in November noted issues with the hot tub temperature and privacy concerns, which directly led to the upgrades mentioned above.

 

 * Our only 1-star review was from a guest who had a communication issue with their partner and expected a completely secluded cottage. Despite our efforts to resolve this onsite, they departed early. While their online review mentioned issues with the beds and AC, these claims were inconsistent with the onsite discussion and our systems. The buildings include several elements to keep guests comfortable during the summer heat, including hydronic cooling in the floors, a cooling unit in the wall of the second floor, and floor fans in all bedrooms. A large, powerful ceiling fan in the main living room also prevents heat from building in the high ceilings. Additionally, a portable AC unit is provided in the main living area, and we will be adding ceramic window film before our 2026 season to further enhance comfort. The main living area can warm up in the late afternoon due to the large windows, but most nights along the coast are best enjoyed by simply opening the windows to let in the cool sea breeze.

 

Our philosophy is built on mutual respect. We ask only one thing in return: that you treat our dedicated staff with kindness. They work tirelessly to ensure your stay is seamless, and we have a zero-tolerance policy for disrespect. In our three seasons, with hundreds of guests, only a handful have been added to our "do not rent" list. Your money is never worth more than the respect and dignity of our team.
